Having read the article “Sharing Space” in my latest eNewsletter, the fabulous Cathy Kuzel of TheConnectedWoman.com asked me to share a wisely hysterical tip for addressing shared space mayhem. Living with three men – her husband and 2 grown sons – Cathy is regularly surrounded by the debris of their criss-crossing paths. Following a recent vacation, Cathy mourned that three weeks after returning home, there are still unpacked clothes marking their presence.
Cathy’s wise woman tip: when the moment arises and you have had ‘ENOUGH,’ collect up all the miscellaneous items and place them in a cardboard box, which you place in the garage, basement, attic, etc. Then, kindly inform the residents of your shared living space that their belongings are in the specific location, inviting them to collect their treasures before the items “turn into a pumpkin” and magically disappear on a set date. It is important to set the date of removal…or you will have lots of boxes with lots of old debris!
Basically, set up your own shared space Lost & Found department! Thanks, Cathy.
